About Experience Shelburne

About Experience Shelburne

The nonprofit partnership behind this work.

Shelburne Day is the one Saturday each year when the Shelburne Farmers Market opens its booths to the whole community — not just our regular farmers and makers, but the businesses, nonprofits, civic groups, artists, and neighbors who together make up the best of Shelburne.

It's a celebration of community engagement: a welcoming, inclusive gathering where residents, businesses, and visitors come together to experience and contribute to the life of our town. The Saturday market runs as always that day — our regular farmers and makers are in their usual booths. Shelburne Day adds free community booths alongside them on the Parade Grounds, continuing across the Village Green. Local businesses and organizations are warmly encouraged to bring their wares right out their own front doors.

Participation is free, and individuals and organizations are both welcome. Space is limited, so booths are selected for a balanced cross-section of the community. Apply below by July 15; selected participants are announced July 20.

Shelburne Day, like the market itself, is sustained by community support. Businesses and organizations able to give back are warmly invited to consider sponsoring the market and its mission.

How Booths Are Selected

Booths are selected to create the best possible Shelburne Day. Because space is limited, not every application can be accepted. We look for:

  • Spirit of Shelburne Day — showcases the best of Shelburne and adds to the day's energy.
  • Community engagement — invites participation, connection, learning, or fun, rather than being purely transactional.
  • A balanced cross-section — a representative mix across applicant types; spots are proportioned so no one category dominates.
  • Local roots — based in or serving the Shelburne community.
  • Inclusivity — we especially welcome participants who don't usually vend at the market, including individuals, community groups, civic partners, and first-time participants.
  • Feasibility — booth plans fit the available space and day-of logistics.

Booth basics: Each booth space is sized to accommodate a single 10×10 tent. Participants bring their own equipment and are responsible for their own setup, teardown, and booth cleanup according to market rules. You may sell at your booth, but you are responsible for all applicable licensing, permits, and requirements. There is no charge for a Shelburne Day community booth. Regular market vendors take part in their usual booths as always; the free community booths are additional.

More than anything, Shelburne Day is a chance to be neighbors — a welcoming day for the whole community to come together and celebrate the best of Shelburne. We invite every exhibitor to share what they love about our town, connect with the people who stop by, and treat every participant and visitor with respect. Harassment or mistreatment of others has no place at Shelburne Day and may result in removal — each booth confirms this in the agreement below.
